Scott Martin's Thoughts on the Evinrude Shut Down

Maybe this has been posted already but Scott Martin has been sponsored by Evinrude for 20+ years and he has at least 6 of them on his various boats. I thought you might be interested in his comments. I predict he will go with Suzuki.

I think it'll be Suzuki or Honda for sure. When he mentioned he wants to be an asset for someone, yamaha and mercury are a crowded field with not a lot to gain, he could sell suzukis or hondas I think.

I’d like to hear his thoughts on Harbor Freight jack stands and Popeyes Chicken sandwich.

Can you get a Ranger with a Suzuki or Honda from the factory? Would he have to get the boat without the motor and add whatever he decides to go with from a sponsorship standpoint?

My gut says Yamaha since he said it wanted a versatile motor. Mercury is too one dimensional in that aspect in my opinion. Honda has no chance. But if strictly looking for opportunity it would be Suzuki.

Ranger, Triton and Nitro are all Johnny Morris so he could only get a Mercury. Maybe this causes him to change boats also. Time will tell.

Something tells me it will be whatever brand their dealership picks up. Just a hunch

Good video. I’d like to see Suzuki pick up some of these pros. Though who knows. Don’t think there’s any bad choices out there. Just sucks that people lost their jobs

I'm wondering what's versatile about any boat motor. Not like
you can take it off and use it as weedeater.

They are not as well rounded in saltwater as Yamaha is. Mercury dominates freshwater however.

Versatile as an offering of motors not one motor used in different environments is what I intended to mean.

And it'll be the best motor he's ever run.

Mercury has motors that they run in the saltwater market. Maybe more on performance boats rather than commercial boats. Yamaha does have a larger salt market, but I don’t feel Mercury is a slouch

They aren't slouches, just Yamaha holds the edge in saltwater currently just like Mercury has the edge in freshwater currently.

He already has the best boat(ranger) so he just needs the Mercury and he’s set.

I think Scott would be an asset to any outboard manufacturer.
