Don't know who installed the one on my 196, but it is 20" from the bow strap hook.

I installed mine about 4 inches below the hook. The hook on a 196 is insanely low IMHO. A pain really.

The front of the Keelshield does not need to be below the resting waterline.

If you guys have any questions, I will be glad to assist. You may also go to the web site and get questions answered straight from the owner/manufacturer.

Make sure to add clear RTV silicone to outer areas of keelshield, it will seal the ends if they were to get free from water from freeing the rest of the shield from hull, I had a dealer do that and worked great! Just FYI!

If I am not too late, may suggest using 3M 4200 sealant over silicone? You will have a better, longer lasting bond.
