Adding an External Transducer to a Motor Guide Xi3.

I am not satisfied with the built-in transducer in my Motor Guide Xi3. I know I can always strap my original Lowrance transducer (which works so much better) to the outside of the Xi3 shaft but I don't like the loose cord between the head and the foot. Is there an easy way to route the transducer cord inside the shaft of the Xi3?
