Has anyone repair an Ultrex with water intrusion?

I've been having issue with my Ultrex not wanting to turn the prop lately and I've taken the two long bolts off and there was water in the motor. The seal still looks good on the trolling motor so Im not sure where the water entered the motor. Has anyone one in here have this issue before? How much does it cost to repair this? I'm planning to do this myself if it's not too hard.

I bought one used and had bad water damage. Brush kit (complete) - $40.00 and possibly an armature assy ($107). I bought all parts because i could get them faster and a ASC Tech near my house put the assembly together.

I did one after some bad info from an ASC who told me it would need to be replaced..
Long story short. I tore it down, cleaned the armature with emery cloth replaced a torn O ring and removed the burr that cut it in the first place... Used the same brushes.... been working for about 2 years now..

On one of the long bolts hard to see in the picture but it was enough to cut the O-ring.
As an extra precaution I covered the whole mtr --especially the bolts and section seams with spray on flex seal..

Depending how bad it is inside, a new seal kit and armature bearing will normally fix it. Give us a call and we can send the parts to you.

If it hasn't burned, and the above works, you can save a small bucket of money doing it.

p.s. if there is a crack in the shaft, you need to fix that first.
