    Flotation recall?

I get a letter from WRMG today, (I have a 2020 18 trx) It says their records indicate my boat may not have sufficient flotation foam! It advises me to get with my dealer to let them inspect it. Anyone else get this notice?

I heard about this around a month ago that it’s the 18 and 19trx that needs more flotation

It looks like what you heard was correct. I wonder where and how they add flotation with the top cap and carpet in-place? Seems like access to open voids under the deck would be very limited at this point.

People seem to be receiving letters that own 2018,2019 and 2020 boats that are 189trx , 18trx and 19trx from what I’ve seen so far and I too am very interested to know how more foam will be injected and where exactly

I can understand the recall on a hydraulic hose or a defective part from a parts company provider, this happens with auto manufacturing all the time. But, I don't know how you don't have enough flotation in a hull model that's been in production for years! It's like a car recall because they forgot to put brakes on the back wheels. Flotation in a boat is kinda high on the priority list. How did they finally figure this out, a hose came loose or a hull got compromised and the boat went to the bottom? Somethings just make you shake your head.

I wish I only owned a boat new enough to have the issue. Lol and anyways how do you figure out to begin with if the damn thing floats isn’t that enough flotation?

You did. And i did call my dealer and at that time they had heard nothing about it. Just posted what i was told. Evidently its true curious what the fix is. If i even get a letter then ill call the dealer again see what they say.

As soon as anybody hears what the projected fix will be please post it here. My dealer is not near me so I’m waiting to hear what the fix is before I do anything. Hopefully it’s nothing too invasive.

I sent a message to Bunch Marine. They said my message is the first they heard of it and currently had no answer or direction on the fix.

They are referring to the expansion foam they spray in the open voids between the hull and the deck. There is supposed to be enough of it to keep the boat from completely sinking if something goes terribly wrong and the hull fills with water. I don't know if they have an engineer figure the hull displacement and the foam buoyancy needed or if they just pulled the drain plug, opened a beer and watched. However; they must have concluded "It Be Bad".
