I didn't know the coast guard did this, I did figure it was a government standard the boating manufactures had to meet. So they verify that the sticker in the boat which in the 18trx says "4 persons or 600lbs" is accurate?

I don't think boats over 20' have to meet any flotation standards though.

I wonder if their old production facility in TN(Manchester?) is still doing some types of work. Several years ago, I had a small structural issue resolved in the right rod locker there. I delat with a guy named Marty...probably long gone.

I think the dealers are to add the foam at dealer locations.

Well, my letter came today. Called dealer and he said he would call the factory and see if my hull # is affected.

Waiting on a return call from dealer. Will post results here.

USCG does not buy boats to test! They provide a free service to manufacturers. https://www.uscgboating.org/regulati...ormation-b.php

That is for boat companies to test new products to make sure they comply. Pre testing.

"Early testing can minimize the financial risk associated with Coast Guard imposed recalls and reduce the number of non-complying boats reaching the public".

I talked to my dealer. They didn’t know anything about it so they contacted WRMG. The dealer contacted me back and said there is a foam kit Triton is putting together. I believe it’s a two part process that mixes and injects with a hose and nozzle. I think there was three locations the foam mix is to be injected. One is from the front access panel from the bow towards the middle storage box, another on the port side mid boat and from the rear on the port side. The dealer wasn’t sure when the kits would be available. Also my guess it would take about 1/2 day to have it done. Doesn’t sound like it’s a complicated process just an inconvenience to go and have it done.

The recall was due to a fluctuating foam gun. Not all boats are affected but to be sure the recall was necessary. Most manufactures would not even have a recall. The dealer will be supplied with a complete foam kit, including the foam, dams, and gun. It would only take little over an hour to add 1.5 cubic foot of foam.

Doesn't sound like it will be a big deal. Just a 2 hour chance to check out new boats. Heck my wife took her vehicle in to the dealer once for a oil change and came home with a new car.
