    Water pressure 1989 2.4 200

    serial number is 0C183878.

New water pump, housing, all gaskets, o ring, plate replaced.

I have had this and another powerhead on two mid sections and both combinations have produced 10 psi at 650 rpm in gear, drops at 12 psi down to 5 when the poppet opens at approx 1100 rpm, and is currently running at 28 psi at wot 6000 rpm and 62 mph.

I know I need to raise the motor on my jackplate (3.5) below pad.

My manual states water pressure is to be 17 -22 psi. Is that only the acceptable range? Is that the minimum? What should I shoot for when fine tuning my setup?

A new pump will sometimes run high the first couple of time out until it wears in a little, so probably all good.

moved plate up to 2.75 below pad and still have 25-26 psi and rooster tail approx mid cowling. Am I safe to go up more or should I stay conservative on water pressure?

15+ is plenty. My v200 runs around 12 psi. Keep raising if the boat likes it

About 2 mph and 200 rpm. I need a taller prop now.

    210 procraft with a 21p mercury revolution 4.

6500 rpm and 63.7 mph. Going to step up to a 23p and try and get those rpms around 6000

As stated- that pressure will tame down after a few outings. Relatively common when replacing complete pump.

2-4 psi minimum at IDLE, and prefer to see 15+ at WOT (for safe measure in turns).
