If you would happen to hit something, that is suppose to keep from breaking the motor mount. Many a motor has been on the rear deck,, and sadly, with the prop hitting the driver. The mount breaks and the steering cables hold the motor, the prop will swing the lower unit on the deck.
Ive never heard if it works. Due to liability (if it should fail) you will never see a manufacturer install one. Great idea though.
