I have a 99 pro craft v200d and I can’t read my capacity plate anymore. The writing is completely faded. Can anyone tell me what the max hp rating is for this boat? Thanks

Boat weighs 2250 lb and should have a max HP of 225

Thanks ANG, this is what I thought. To bad though I could get a real deal on a 250xs. Oh well I’ll find a good deal on a 225.
I had a 96 V200D and I thought it was 200 HP. FWIW, NADA guides says 150HP, but maybe it's wrong.

I know down here in FL if the boat is 20' or more legally you can put any hp you want. The plate is just the manufacturer recommended max hp. If under 20' then the max hp is as high as you could go legally. May want to check your state and see if it's the same. A 250xs would be nice.

My boat is a1995. It’s in really nice shape but I think 250 would be pushing the hull/Transom a bit. It’s just that the marina I am talking with has a real low hours 250 that he’s willing to deal on. He has a 225 opti too so I’ll see what we can get done there. Thanks again for the input guys. BBC is THE place to get answers or help!
Ok in the first post I think you have it as a 1999. If it is a 1995 then the max should be 200hp on the plate but the boat is lighter weighing in at less that 1800 lb.

Yes my mistake. The boat is 1995. The 200 opti is a 1999
Ok if it were mine I would hang the 250xs on it. The 200 optimax would weigh the same just have less power. My 96 ProCraft SuperPro was rated for a 200 but I had several 3.0s on it: 250xs, 300xs, and a 300 promax and it did fine.

You know ANG I’m thinking the exact same thing. I can get the 25o with just under 300 hours cheaper than the 225 with 490 hours. The 250 is newer to boot.
Go with the 250. When I had a 200 on my V200, it felt underpowered and barely broke 55 mph, even with various props.

That’s what I’ve always felt about my boat also. With that said I had one cyl down at 95-97 compression for a while so kind of thought that was the problem.

Well I went ahead with the 2005 225 pro xs. Just had it installed and am very happy with the hole shot now ( 2 seconds on plane) with 25fury cupped and worked to 26 and had it to 62 on gps at 5800 rpm with a full boat and fuel. I think I need to raise it up one hole but overall very happy with the result. Only problem is most of my gauges no longer work. Temp gauge anolog need digital or Smartcraft. Trim sender is digital so my gauge stays pegged and my old four light Merc gauge will not work with the newer opti. Oh well I guess a Merc monster is next. Need to do some research on what all I need to get full functionality an if my hummingbird 1198 is compatible or not.
I had that problem in 2010 when I put a 200 Pro xs on my 192 SP. I went with a Merc Smartcraft gauge I wasn't too awful expensive at that time but I don't remember wha
t it cost.
