1222 vs 1242

I’m looking at getting either the 1222 vs 1242 for livescope, so my question is I know that the 1242 has the lake vu while the 1222 has the worldwide base map, I’m thinking later on I may want to put a garmin force on my boat, would I be able to add a map card like Navionics to the 1222 later if I wanted to have contour maps? TIA

Cant use Navionic cards in Garmin units. But you can use their LakeVu and LakeVu Ultra cards.

If you are thinking about upgrading later, then go with the 122sv ultra series and get the lakevu ultra map cards later on. That way your unit and processor is already upgraded and all you need to do down the road is map it up.

Best advice you’ll get. The 1222/1242 are great units but they’re “sell by” date is coming up soon. The Ultras are nice and fresh.....
