    Gas Gauge On HDS

Does anyone know what I need to show fuel level on my HDS 12 Gen3. I have he NEMA 2000 with the Yamaha interface cable but would like to be able to monitor my gas gauge on my HDS. What would I need & how would it be installed.
    Thanks

You need a Lowrance 000-11518-001 Fluid Level Sensor. It connects to the sending unit of your fuel tank and interfaces to the NMEA 2K backbone.

So this will be a $100 & all will depend on how good your sending unit is, right?

Folks will spends hundreds, if not thousands, on a modern state of the art NMEA 2000 device then scrimp on the sending unit. Like an outdated electro-mechanical WEMA/Moeller/KUS type from the 1900's.

Then bitch and moan about how crappy fuel tank quantity indicators are.

    WTH? Makes no sense.

Well, I'm not scrimping, moaning or groaning about anything. This fuel sensor connects to the tank sending unit. All I'm saying is the accuracy is only as good as the tank sending unit.
You can interpret this anyway you like, that's just my opinion.

And I am agreeing with you.

I am saying that folks settle for a less good sending unit. And then complain about the accuracy they see on the gauge.

I can't even pull up Lorance.com this morning, so maybe something with their site.

OK, it works now, but looks like you have to copy the link and paste in your browser address bar. Or if you're on a pc, right click the link and open in a new tab.

I use the fuel flow sensor and manually add gas to the tank, been working for me for years. Sensor seem to read so I have more gas than indicated.

To the best of my knowledge, which isn't much, I have the stock gauge & have no idea of its accuracy or age. So I guess with the sensor, I should buy a new & more accurate sending unit. Now which one is that?

In my opinion, it would be a reed type rather than a swing arm.

    www.centroidproducts.com

All solid state. No moving parts. No float to hang up. Trim it to fit so that it can be much lower to the bottom of the tank than other types.

Maybe it's just me. I got to the Lowrance site but when I try to click the sensor-setup-guide.pdf it says downloading for about a second then goes away. Any advice
