    2000 Ranger Trail...trailer brakes

On my 2000 Ranger Trail there is a cap with directions on the tongue...push down and rotate to the right "BACKING" to the left "REMOVE CAP"
Question is do I have to rotate to "BACKING every time I back up? My old trailer I didn't...thanks

Does your trailer have a 5-pin connector or 4?
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
    nothing else matters.

With a 5-pin, you should have a solenoid to lock out the brakes when the truck is in reverse.

That cap will come into play if for some reason your brakes fail to release when attempting to back up.
