Got a text late last night from my dad that his father finally passed away. 97 years old.. His health had been in serious decline recently. The only good thing is that he wasn't in any pain at the end and passed away peacefully in his sleep.
Grandpa was in WW2 although he never saw any action. He was stationed in the Aleutian Islands as a pilot trainer. The hairiest thing he said he ever faced was flying on the deck of the ocean to de-ice his plane wings.
After he got out of the war he started his own aeronautical engineering company. I firmly believe that my son got his great grandfather's math brain.
This video is the last time I really remember my Gpa being in good health. Ethan is now 6 for frame of reference.
