    1999 skeeter 185C

Looking at a skeeter 185c to restore. Come across a great deal and love the color scheme. Boat is in a great shape overall but has a blown engine which is why the guy is selling it cheap. What kind of speeds come out of this boat? It’s currently got a 150 Yamaha but I’d be looking to put 175 V8 Mercury on it. Mid 60’s or are these slow boats?

    thanks,
    bruce

I can get about 50 to 55 gps with mine. I have the pro v 150 on it. I am only turning about 5000 rpm though so it could use some work on getting more speed. Just haven’t got to looking into it yet.

Not sure about a ‘99. I have a buddy who bought a ‘96 (I think) 185C with a Merc 150. He was getting 60 with a 22 Tempest. He put on a Fortrexx 80 and a new 24 Tempest. Set the plate to 3.5 PTP, and he gets 64 solo in ideal conditions. He said the hull
weight is about 1200 lbs on his, and he’s got 2 fuel tanks in the rear.

I had a 98....absolute rocket. The holeshot was great and my best top speed was right around 62 if I recall correctly. Mine had a 150 Mercury on it. Great boat. The guy who owns it now still loves it.

I’ve got a 2000 zx185c with a 175 carbed VMax on it. I can get 67 loaded alone, and 65 with two guys and a tournamnt load.

I owned a 99 ZX 185c that I bought new in 99 with a 150 Vmax and that was one fast 18fter would run 63 all day long with me and my partner almost full tank and tourney load. That carbed motor was bullet proof. It ran as good the day I traded it in 2018 as it did new in 99.
