Coastal sv tw vs 2020 tatula sv

On the fence between these two reels for a pitching/skipping setup. Really liking the bigger handle and line capacity of the coastal to be able to use for other techniques. I guess what I'm wondering is if the coastal is as good as the sv for skipping?

I don't know about the new Tat SV, but for $175, the Coastal SV is a great reel that's smooth, casts well and looks great. I haven't pitched or skipped with it but I don't doubt it excels with that too. Add some spacers and throw a ZPI spool in there and hold on.

Where did you find one for $175? I've been wanting to pick one of these up for a while now for an inshore setup.

American legacy has used like new ones for that price.
Plus they have the daiwa sale going on right now to get 20% off
It says used, but mine looked brand new.

Check ebay. RH Coastal for just under $160 and LH Coastal for $170

I think that's the Coastal TWS, not the SV.

    Hi,
I have both. The new Coastal SV is a fantastic reel in my opinion. Especially if you can get it for 175 USD (I got mine new for 180 USD). It looks and feels great, has a large SV spool and great handle and knobs. The reel is (so far) super smooth and a great caster (it is my frogging reel).

I would choose it over the Tatula SV. My Tatula is solid as well, just a bit behind the Coastal.

Mountain Man, what thumb bar/clutch do you have on your Coastal SV? Looks great.

Make sure to crack it open and make sure there is sufficient grease/oil...mine was pretty dry inside and was much smoother and fluid after I added a proper amount of grease and oil.

Will the new coastal Sv throw bigger weights? 1oz or more?

Yep! I think its comfort zone is till 2oz. It could go up to 3oz if you have to push it.

Gotcha-thinking this or Tatula 200 for soft baits

I have personally no experience with the Tatula 200. The Tatula might be a more suitable reel if you focus on heavier lures (2-4oz range). Though if you want a all around reel, the Coastal is superior in my opinion due to the SV spool, which allows you to throw lighter lures and also is pretty adequate for skipping lures.
