What shaft length came on the pt175 or pt185 boats? I am looking for a new trolling motor and found a used 42 inch one.
My 175txw came with a 45" shaft and the two trolling motors it's had on it since then have been 45". Rarely have a problem with the trolling motor coming out of the water even in big rollers. I like to keep the head of the motor as low as possible on the nose so it doesn't get in the way.

45" or longer IMO. The 42 will work fine on a calm day but you want a longer shaft.
