    Champion Jac jack plate

Hey y’all. I recently purchased a 2009 Champion 202. It has a Mercury 225 Pro Xs, 24 pitch Fury prop, and Champion Jac jack plate. I’m struggling to get it to run more than 60mph. My rpms are around 5600-5700. Currently the jack plate is set at 2”. I’m needing help on what the correct height should be, since I’m having trouble getting my rpms up for maximum performance. The last owner said he got it up to 65mph, but I can’t seem to get there. Thanks I’m advance.

Any prop damage? Might want to send out for balance and blueprinting.

Try dropping the prop to 3 1/2" and adjust up/down 1/4" at a time. Keep an eye on water pressure.

There’s no visible prop damage that I can see. I’ll try 3 1/2” and work from there. I’m not trying to set any speed records, just been seein guys talking about there Champs going 70mph with the same motor I have.

I think you need more prop. 26 Temp plus maybe large holes.

I think your motor is too high. I have a 201 with a 225 HPDI Yamaha with a 25 P Mark Croxton Razor 4XL. It is set at 3.5" per Mark's recommendation and I am getting 64-65 MPH at 5700. Mark says I have 17% prop slip and that is should be 10-12%, so maybe there is a little more top end to be had. Not yet sure what needs to be done to improve that.

What is the boat telling you?
Is it running flat? Roostertail over the motor cowling? Steering really stiff at WFO? You're too high.
Is it loose and steering numb? Flat/no tail? Too low.

The newer202s are totally different boats from your 202, Scooty. Newer ones more like the 198, etc.
