3 new lithium ion batterys and I can't hit 50mph

put 3 ionic litthium ions in my ranger rt198. I can't get to 50mph anymore. Is it that much of a weight change that my boat can't hit that speed anymore?

Occasionally removing weight from behind the pad you lose bow lift, which hurts speed. YOu might get your prop worked for more bow lift, or swap to a prop that has more lift.

No pad it's a tin boat. Did you add a new 36 volt troller on the front or keep it a 24 volt? Do you have it set too high prop to pad?

i added the new garmin force trolling motor. Its pretty heavy. but i kept it a 24 volts. I have 2 small lithium ionic batterys for the trolling motor. Those two batterys weight 14.3 lbs each. The starter lithium battery weighs 34.2 lbs. The rt198 has a pad hull https://www.rangerboats.com/aluminum...nt/rt198p.html

The extra weight on the bow will definitely kill speed.

If when you are running and trimming up the motor and gaining speed to the point you run out of trim, you might benefit from some wedges to give you more trim. They helped my boat a lot.

Some tin boats have pads, including the original posters boat.

What prop do you have on it now and in what holes are the top mounting bolts? What are the max rpm's you can get now?

198p has a pad. I ran a war eagle 962 with pad and its a very similar boat. It ran 54-55 MPH. My buddy has a 198p and it runs close to 60. I would guess you need prop work. Please post your max RPMs and current prop

This. Most report a 1 mph loss when going from a Fortrex to an Ultrex. Not Garmin but a possible cause..

Garmin is supposed to be about 15 lbs heavier, and on the bow will have a much greater affect in hurting top speed.

drop the motor one mounting hole down.

You are losing prop bite, incrasing prop slip %.
