    Rain and More Rain -

Looks like it's time to make the call & get out of the house. We'll be on the river Thursday and Friday. Not 100% settled where we will put in but we may run around .... I'm still leaning to Spring Lake and then maybe run north to visit some old spots .... looking forward to some sun. The forecast is favorable and the barometer should be climbing. It may be a good idea to put some new string on my 4600's - not sure when I changed out the line on some of them. Maybe make a good project for tonight.

Spring Lake was a bust for us. Not a bite and little water as advised. So we went to some old familiar places and picked up several bass in the 13-15" range.
Interesting my son hit on 3 Northern in the the space of a half hour all over 30" and that was fun .... So the day turned out good. The river was being pulled southbound and was mostly muddy brown after some heavy rains the week before. Some backwater areas were thin. Trees that were usually reliable had less than a foot of water so the fish had to pull out into the open under a heavy overcast sky ... It was great to be out and fishing. Had breakfast from McDonalds ... VERY Glad we don't have to do that often. In fact it's been years and it will be again if we have a choice. Friday we ate in the lot at Country Kettle with breakfast served out the back door. Now, things are going to open up a bit in town so it will be more like normal but still under the Covid19 cloud. Friday fishing was pretty good. Added another nice northern off a jig he picked up off the bottom .... no big bass and no stacks of fish. The boat ran great which is always good news. Ran it up to Bellevue and picked up a couple in the 13" - 14" range - enjoyed the ride. We will be back in a week or so with an eye on the weather. Savanna Inn was loaded with contractors and others but they always do a great job there. Too bad they can't serve breakfast for now. Hopefully they can get back to it with the easing of some restrictions.

Had the 1st tournament of the year out of Clinton today. We got 5 out of Spring Lake. About 12.5 lb with 3.75 the biggest. Found a bunch of spawning fish. Mostly males after females left. Barely got a limit. The guys did a pretty good job keeping spaced out at weigh in.

Hey Dave, great job getting a limit in Spring Lake. Thursday, we didn't launch until about 9 and then we put it back on the trailer about noon and went up to Savanna Marina and put it back in ... and ran upriver. There was about 15 truck/trailers in the parking area at Spring when we got there.
