    Tubes

Let me start by saying I have lots of tubes, even some hard to find colors, but for the life of me I never go to them when choosing a soft plastic. I think I'm missing the boat, should I be making tubes a staple for soft plastics?

I use to fish them all the time but I have not used one in probably 15 years. I have no idea why I stopped.

I always have a Texas rigged tube tied on. That and a senko as well. Those two baits have salvaged a lot of days for me.

Last year in my club I weighed in 39 bass and 36 of them came on a Stupid tube. I always have 2 or 3 rigged up in different colors and size. Been fishing them since early 2000's.

Yep stupid tube rig, I rig it on heavy mono and pitch into cover and work it through chunk rock, rig it on light line and wear out the smallies and spots.

Since you live in Ky like i do you probably fish a lot of highland lakes. If you do then you sure need to keep a tube in the rotation. I catch a lot of good smallmouth on them & when largemouth are in bushes, laydown etc & they're not biting jigs, or brush hogs it's a good time to try a tube. An night i hang a rattle on it, but i work mine in a pop pop pop let it fall style most times. Sometimes i quiver them all the way up on the lift to get bit because they won't hit it any other way. In high water when there's a lot of driftwood along the banks you can have a blast pitching a tube into holes. I caught them pretty good one evening last week & nothing else put fish in the boat. On summer nights i'll throw to & work the bank out to the drop & then slowly let them fall all the way to the boat in very deep water. May not get many bites doing it a lot of times, but when they do it's usually a real nice one. I guess you can tell i'm a tube fanatic.

Stupid tube or one setup for flipping/pitching is almost always getting thrown.

You really are missing the boat, fish them a lot. Summer time in deep water and ledge fishing i use a flipping tube and drag it. Caught a lot of quality bass doing that.

Plus one on the stupid tube! ACT lures has a great tube jig for a great price! Dragging a tube is a staple for me all year and if I'm fishing the river I could only bring 2 rods and one would have a tube on.

It the go-to for spawning smallies up here. I'll use them when the smallmouth are concentrated on steep/short drops to 15'+ in the summer.

Use them every year especially on smallmouth lakes. There’s a river that’s about a mile from my house where we drop kayaks in and drift down. Usually takes about 3hrs to drift down to the pull out point but in that span we usually catch around 20-30 smallies throwing nothing but tubes. One rod, few packs of tubes, and a ton of jig heads makes for a really fun afternoon.
