    Hot Foot

My new to me boat has a hot foot. This is the first boat I have had with one. Has anybody else had an issue with your calf cramping? I wasn't even making a very long run, maybe 10 minutes at the end of the day and it cramped up real bad. Still a little sore today.

Nope, never had that problem. If your Hot Foot is adjustable, maybe moving it farther away or closer to you would help.

Nope. My buddy who is older cried about his hotfoot for months and then he finally started to like it. I’d never not have one.

Does your buddy cry about the throttle pedal in his truck as well?

The first time you're out and break a return spring you'll know why they are so stiff. My first hot foot didn't have a toe clip.

My second boat had a hot foot but it was an old Pantera Classic. Also had to break in a new powerhead with the hotfoot and that was not fun. On a performance hull I would want one. On the boat I have now no way in hell. I'm a lazy cruiser in the boat I have now.

I have had that happen on long river runs, or like at Kentucky Lake where I am hammered down for a solid hour or more. My solution on those runs is to get closer to the pedal whether its by moving seat or pedal. If your pedal is not a sliding one, just know that they make an adjustable pedal now if your seat doesn't adjust.

I can't remember what brand I had but my old Gambler 206 had a foot throttle but you could still use the hand throttle like normal. IIRC one brand of foot throttle could do that, the other could not.

I had mine disconnected and went back to the hand throttle. I have bad knees. Using the hotfoot would cause my knee to ache like crazy. It was too uncomfortable to use it even n short runs. Never had a problem with my calf cramping during use. I did leave it in the boat and will have it connected if I ever put the boat up for sale.

I can't imagine running big water without one?? keeps two hands free, and foot is much faster than the hand throttle. Our FD rescue boats always had hand throttles, and I found it more difficult to have the same amount of control with hand throttle, especially in current. But to each his own.

They should make it a law to have one. If ever you should have two hands on a steering wheel it's on a boat.
