    Phoenix 920 Prop recommendations

Have a Phoenix 920 with Mercury 250 Pro, 2 stroke. Have a 12 inch jack plate and with a 24 Fury I only turn 5760 RPM at 73 MPH. Motor is 3&1/4 below pad. Do you think I should try a 23 Fury? Any help appreciated.

    Thanks

Definitely need to get your RPM's up on the 4 stroke. Just a guess, but with your rig, I would want the 24 checked first to see if it is actually higher than a 24 pitch. The 21 footers are turning 23's, but unless you have your boat extremely loaded, you should be able to turn the 24 to 6000-6100.

It's a two stroke. Forgot to state that on my post. Thanks

Is the jackplate manual? If so, I would raise it 1/4" and try again and repeat if you have good water pressure. 3-1/4" seems a little deep to me, my boat (not a Phoenix) runs faster at 2-3/4".

3-3.5 is where most guys are running mercs on Phoenix hulls. You might be able to go up to around 2.75 with the 12" plate but I'm not sure on that.

How heavy is your load? 25 or 26 fury's are the ticket for 2 strokes on 920's. You should be all over the limiter with a 24 unless you're running super heavy or your prop has some damage. Is that rpm reading from the factory tach or smart craft?
