Minnkota Fortrex Trolling motor Plug/connector help

End of last year started having some trouble with trolling motor cutting in and out. I replaced the plug but not the receptacle and it appeared to work fine for a couple of trips. Started out this year and had a little trouble on the first trip out with trolling motor being intermittent again.

Do I just need to strip some wire off the negative end and reattach? or do I need to add new receptacle and plug? as you can see from photos it has charring and pretty corroded.(assuming years of moisture got to it?)

Think you will be OK w/ the wire. I would replace whole plug assembly

Be safe, get a new plug, male and female. Use Dielectric Grease. Trim the wire off 1/2" or until you get clean wire.

As said replace the whole plug and receptacle assembly. Beef it up to a higher amp plug. Battery tender has a real good one. It is worth the extra money.
