Retrieving Rod / Reel Combo in 7 Foot of water?

Looking for any idea, suggestions, or methods used to, hopefully, retrieve a rod / reel which went overboard in 7-8 foot of water?

Drag a grapple anchor. Or you could always drag around a Rat-L-Trap. I’ve got them back that way when the weather was too cold to get in the water.

if it were me at this time of year and I wasn’t willing to do it myself I would pay a local kid $20 to go for a swim. 7-8ft should be a piece of cake if you know where it’s at.

Ring King, thanks. I first went with the rattle trap till I broke off the bait. NOW, got a 50 ft cord tied to a medal stringer with #10 treble hook attached to each stringer clip. Heading back to lake ASAP Wed to try.
