Unable to fill gas tanks to 24 gallons for ZX200

I have a 2014 ZX200. It has dual 25 gallon gas tanks which can not be ran dual only single. My last time out fishing the portside tank was ran until empty, motor died. I switched to the starboard gas tank for the rest of the day. Well I went to the gas station today to fill up and was only able to get 18 gallons into portside. I put a flashlight on top and the gas level is one inch from being full. Why can’t I put 24 gallons in an empty 25 gallon tank? It seems like 18 gallons fills it to the top. Confused.

    Any ideas?

Just a thought. Maybe you have 6 gallons left in the tank. Its possible depending on the angle of the boat while running that could allow the fuel to be at one end of the tank causing the fuel pick up to suck air. Then You would assume that you have run out of fuel.

I may be wrong but I thought the Zx200 only had 36 gallon fuel capacity. My FX21 holds 48 gallons.

My ZX200 has two 25 gallon tanks.

Here is a picture of the gas line when it clicked off at the pump. About 2 inches from the top. This is 17 gallons. Do I need to try to fill the entire gas tank to get the missing 7 gallons? I want to put 24 gallons of gas into each one of my tanks.

From that photo. Yes you're still about 5-7 gallons short. To get the full 24 gals the tank has to be filled to the top. I always look at the tanks will filling.

Thanks, I will try to fill it to the top next time. I will have to do the turning the gas pump 180 degrees trick next time because it is clicking off.

I have a 2014 zx200 it could be a venting issue, sometimes mine can't get the air out fast enough and shuts off prematurely, I just pump it slower and watch the tank
