I Agree with BPenrod.. I have best of Chi ites in my Lexus #1 CD & #1 song on the CD(Oh Girl) for last 6 months. There is Nothing better than cranking it with a good sound system early in the morning. That song in the morning gets your internal Flow and head in a state of Well Being till Lunch. .
Ben E King, my fav. is Seven Leters
The Motown channel has a preset on my Sirius/XM radio. Love it.
There's nothing like My Girl by the tempting Temptations.
From the movie, but the music is still pure and correct.

Archie Bell & the Drells. I heard a funny story on the 60’s on 6 this afternoon. Archie Bell was serving in Vietnam and was shot in the leg and in the hospital when “Tighten Up” hit number one. He spent weeks trying to convince the medical staff and other patients that he was THE Archie Bell who was singing on that song.

"The man of system is apt to be very wise in his own conceit; and is often so enamored with the supposed beauty of his own ideal plan of government that he cannot suffer the smallest deviation from any part of it…He seems to imagine that he can arrange the different members of a great society with as much ease as the hand arranges the different pieces upon a chessboard.” Adam Smith, The Theory of Moral Sentiments
Motown was an INSANE collection of creatives and business smarts. INSANE.
Obviously, there is more talent represented by that one label than most other labels across time put together, so take your pick. I vote The Spinners. SO much of the hi hat work you hear in today's pop, hip hop, and ... hahahah.. pop-country is derived from the stuff Andrew Smith was doing at Motown - you can hear it on "The Rubberband Man".
... but that's just the tip of the tip of the very top of the iceberg. - great topic!
