    soldering a split ring

When I use the big flutter spoons in the summer my line gets tangeled in the big split ring. Sometimes I use a snap when not tournament fishing and that makes it even worse. I tried soldering the split ring closed and other than looking bad it solved the problem . I am sure this could be done for other applications but this is where I started. I would like to hear what other possibilities you guys can think of .

Been there !! I remove the split ring and use a snap. You still get the fluttering action, but eliminate the tangle.

Shrink wrap for electrical wiring. Cut a small piece that will cover only 80% of the split ring, where the split is, and heat it up.

One simple solution would be to use an OVAL split ring too.

UV cure plastic. Couple drops, 5 seconds of light. No more gap for line to get into.
