I have a 1990 gt175. It has 512227 coils on it now. The book calls for 582508 to be on it. Is there a difference in these coils. I can’t find anything on the 512227 coils anywhere. Is there a difference in them?

Is the motor running ok? Same coils. You will be ok.

It doesn’t want to get on plane. I think that may be in the fuel though, or the timing. Not entirely sure. It idles fine, jumps a little while trying to get on plane and eventually does get on plane.
When it wont get on plane, push your choke in and see if it picks up. If it does, fuel related. If not, electrical/something else. Did it start recently or always been like that? Post model number as well.

Compression numbers are all good. Between 95 and 110.
512227 that part does not exist must be production run number.. look at www.shop2.evinrude.com to verify.
