    Z7 Jack Plate

I am looking to put a 10 inch plate on the back. Will the stock Cables work or will i need to replace the cables. The Stock seem to be pretty long but not sure. Also those with a 10 inch on your Z7 , how does it work.. Thnaks Tim

I have a 2012 Z7 and I put an 8" plate and have plenty of cable and steering lines left for 2 more inches. Go for it.

Okay, I'll say it... 10" is overkill for that setup. You are essentially underpowered with a 150 and I surmise a factory prop. I doubt you will see any gains in speed, and with your motor now 10" further out, there is a strong chance your hole shot will be worse. 6" is about your max. You would be better off spending the $500 on a worked prop. Your 150 will still be a 150 and it will be a task getting that setup to perform.

My performance in terms of speed is about the same. Hole shot is great. The ride appears to be smoother. The cost was not that big of deal and I would do it again. I have a tempest plus 24p. I think I want to try a 23p and I think I will see more revs and speed but not too worried. I can hit 58-59 all day long right now. Have hit 61 with very light load.

I think you have to play with P2P depth... I get max speed from my Z7 with a 200 and 8inch Hydraulic Jack Plate at 4 1/2 " below pad. 3.25 and I lose massive speed.

If you have one rated for 200- it’s prob the older version of the hull. (No rps)
looks like his is a 2013. But you are correct, every boat, load, and hull are a bit different - just have to play with it

Got the 10" plate installed and started tweaking it. I think I need a little more bow lift and around 200 rpm. Thinking of trying a 23 or 22 Tempest Plus with a little cup. the 150 Opti Pro XS is turning 5200 - 5300. Seems to run pretty good, starts chine walking around 57mph.

That is where I am with mine as well. 5250-5350 for RPM with the 24P. I am getting 58 and 59 at times but 57 all day long. Let us know what happens when you try a 23P or 22P. I am trying to find one to try on my boat before I shell out $$$. Mine runs best at 3.5", at 3.25" I get no lift.

My 2013 Z7 with 150 Pro runs 62 GPS with me, my wife, 36 Gallons of fuel and fishing gear. This is without a jack plate. My Merc is turning 5600-5700 RPM @ WOT.

Also just had the hull replaced.

small update. Tried boat after putting everything back in the boat. 1/4 tank of gas, full load of tackle and 3 "grown adults" i was getting 54+ and it was still going up when I ran out of room. The boat handles much better. I am gonna go down a little more to see if I can get water pressure to come up a bit. Once I get it all done I will measure the PTP to see where I end up. Still trying to locate a 22 or 23 prop to try. But so far I say the plate was worth it.
