    Question Boat upgrade time

I have some money to upgrade my electronics
    I have a budget of 3 to 4k

Current set up is 1 HDS 9 Carbon & 2 HDS9 Gen2s with LSS2 on the jack plate and HDI on the trolling motor Point 1 on rear deck
I have the older MotorGuide 109 36v tour series (it's in great shape)

My current plan is the Lowrance Ghost with AI 3 in1 in the nose and switching the LSS2 for a AI 3in1 transducer on the rear

Later in the year I will add another 9 carbon replacing one of the gen 2s

will I need to move the carbon to the bow from the Console?
Is this the best upgrade for the money I have?
Is there anything I will need to add or watch out for?
is there anything you would change?

You may want to investigate upgrading the Gen2’s to Gen3. I have a Gen2 networked to a Gen3 and it forces the Gen3 into legacy mode.
I don’t know if this is the same with a Gen2 networked to a Carbon or if it is significant to your situation, just wanted you to know there is a possible issue.
BTW: I upgraded a Gen2 on the bow to a Gen3 so I could get chirp and fish reveal out of the HDI transducer. I imagine the Carbon would do the same.

Yes a Gen2 on the same Ethernet will put the Carbon into "legacy mode", if the Carbon is updated to, I think 18 or newer? As OP already has both Carbon and Gen2's hopefully, they either know about this, doesn't have them connected via Ethernet, or it isn't an issue.

I dont believe the AI 3in1 for inside the Ghost is available yet, but yes if that is your intent, AI ducers require Carbon or newer.

    Thanks guys
This is exactly why I posted
I had no clue about Legacy mode
I did some research and see the problem now
Perhaps I didn't see it having only the LSS2on the boat now
I will have to rethink this
Electronics are my Kryptonite and I was hoping to upgrade and spend some time really getting to know them

Team Colibri has several white papers that will be helpful in your research, this one shows transducer compatibility:

This one shows the feature differences in Carbon and Gen3:
