Keel Guard for AVX

Has anyone installed a keel guard on your AVX? How did it go, which one did you install and how long of one did you buy?

The way the keel is designed on these rigs you think a keelshield will even stick go it well? With the flat strip down the center and welds on each side i dont think it will sit very flat on there.

After a trip to lake Erie. My keel shield is gone! Took it clean off no tape residue left on the boat. Did all the steps for install. Not sure what happened maybe from a wave.

Because they are not designed for this type of keel. Its flat and has a weld on each side not a smooth surface for the adhesive. Doomed for failure from the start honestly

Don't know I'm not a engineer. Guessing water got under it some how. I tried it it didn't work for me. Not saying they will not sick!

This is what im talking about. The 2 welds on each side. They are not flat with the hull material therefore you will not have a smooth uniform bond that the keelshield requires. Unless you found a narrow strip that goes down the center only between the welds i dont see a keelshield being an option here. I wanted one on my old aluminum boat but the large rib it had down the center didnt make it possible.

I believe the entire length of the hull i didnt actually crawl underneath when i looked. I know its like that the entire front portion.

When installing a keel guard on a welded hull it is recommended that you seal both ends with some sort of RTV sealant to keep the water out. Not all brands mention that though.

Because i have eyes and can make an observation. Just giving input on why a keelshield likely wont work well on this setup with the very unusual design of the keel. Sorry if i understand how things work ill be sure to ask your permission next time. Why do you even care if i post about it its nothing negative just input.

I'm sure something wasn't right with my insatall. Not warm enough maybe? I' m sure that few waves i came across one lake Erie helped.. I'm just glad that no welds cracked
