    Set up help needed

    Alright guys, looking for advice.
I know this topic has been brought up numerous times. It seems as there is never a definite answer on jackplates for the older Chargers.
I have a ‘97 195TF with a 8” Atlas plate set at 2.75” PTP, turning a stock Tempest 25P with a ‘97 Mercury 200 running 5600 or so WOT. My speed is right about 55-57. I have very little bow lift, water spray is around the consoles. My trim angle already has me throwing a rooster tail a bit higher than the motor cowling.

Motor runs strong, holeshot is quick, less than 4 seconds.
What can I do to increase this top end? Pull the plate?

Higher rooster tail flat run motor is just a hair too high. Rpms need to be as close to 5,900 as you can get.

If I was setting it up I would send the prop to Mark and have it turned down to a 24p and balanced/blueprinted. When I got it back I would drop the the plate to 3-1/2" p2p. Make sure the boat is loaded, full of fuel, and water in the wells while testing. Go run it and raise it 1/4" per run till you lose water pressure or speed. Drop it back to previous run and leave it.
