As for your comments on the Second Amendment, who gets to arbitrarily decide what types of firearms are permissible "within reason" and which are not? Both weapons you describe are semi-automatic and the only way to legally own an automatic weapon, suppresor, etc., is by the securing of a tax stamp through the ATF. Also, statistically, handguns are used far more routinely in the commission of violent crimes than "assault rifles" (that is a fact you can research yourself via FBI crime stats). As for your reference to the founding fathers, they were fully aware of what they were doing when they drafted the Second Amendment. You can open the Federalist Papers and a thorough reading will quickly clear this matter up. Further, no one in this country is dying from not having any toilet paper, and last I checked we have a major problem with obesity, which is in direct contradiction to starvation. In fact, many of these "underlying conditions" that everyone is so concerned about with this virus are due to issues directly related to obesity. It appears by your statements that you are of the belief that under a socialist government, that when an individual runs out of a product or has a need, that the government just steps in and provides said need or product. The good folks of Venezuela had the same thoughts and were promised these very things when they initially elected Hugo Chavez as president...now they are competing against each other for dogs in the streets to kill as food because they are starving to death. And, that fantastic socialist government they wanted confiscated all private weapons, because the government was going to protect all the people. Now, the very government they wanted has consolidated power, they rule the citizenry, and are broke, (even though they have some of the largest oil reserves in the world) ...well, except for the socialist elite class who now have all the wealth and power, while everyone else starves and struggles to survive. And again,
the citizens forfeited their arms to the government, so they have no means of defending themselves or their rights. In conclusion, asking for help is not a form of socialiam, that's just asking for help. Socialism entails things TAKEN from the entity that produces them and being redistributed to those that did not. I could go on about this all night, but I have to get up and go to work tomorrow. I am LE and when I'm out working the streets tomorrow, I will be far more concerned in running into a bad guy with a handgun than one with an AR...those handguns are hard to spot sometimes, but those assault rifles...not so much...
Someone much wiser than myself said " You can vote your way into socialism, but you have to shoot your way out." Never surrender your liberty for the false sense of security wrapped up in a bow and marketed as socialism.
