The boat hasn't seen the light of day. I'm back to teaching middle schoolers, seated and virtual. It's a struggle right now for sure. This rig may not see much action for a while.

I finally got out on the water yesterday. I broke 80mph at 6200rpm with a lot of trim left and barely throwing a rooster tail. I think I'm going to start raising it up a 1/4" at a time and see how it responds. I'm still running the 25 Tempest. This thing is an absolute blast to drive. Baby steps...

What gear case are you running? 80 with room left turns on the yellow light to be aware of the next step of stuff that happens. Especially blow out. If you ever experience it, you'll never want to do THAT again. Or see anyone else do it either.

Wayne put the stock gear case back on it with a fat shaft and a blowout ring. He said he’s never came close to blowout with one and has ran them into the mid nineties. The only thing I’ve got to go on is others’ experiences. It’s a little nerve racking to say the least especially when I want to keep pushing it. I assume there’s no warning signs prior to blowout.

There is about a half second warning. Subtle but consistent.
At the point of blowout, the bow will drop a few inches and try to fall to the right. Better get out of right then or the next step is not going to be much fun.

Sounds kind of like trying to pet an angry dog. It will bite but you’re not sure when.

I'ma keep checking this thread daily, you know, just to see if BalsaBee is still alive. It's like having a granny who smokes and eats bacon everyday... she enjoys the hell out of it, but we all know her time is short.

It was my boat but I’d love to help set his up. Plenty of props to try and a river that’s as long as you need to get up to speed.

That's a steady hand on that Ally, very well done.

You better hope it is put together better than my 1996 191 champion, or that much torque/speed will destroy some things in the transom and hull.
