206 repower
152EF9CE-4D1A-4A0A-B57C-252161A791B0.jpegIn February I repowered my 2009 206 with a new 250 pro xs 4 stroke and a hydraulic jack plate ( I had a 2009 250 pro xs 2 stroke and a manual jack plate) this new combination is awesome on this boat . On pad the boat feels like it lifts better. I have played around with the hole shot and I have found that if I have the motor about 3/4 way up it comes out of the hole faster now, I always thought the lower the motor the better for a hole shot but not with this set up. I have gotten about 3 mph faster but I didn't buy it for that my top speed so far is 71 but I'm still in break in so I can't really stay in it to long. Im running the Mercury fury 3 blade 25p on it.

Good report. I have an 08 210 with the same motor. My top speed was pretty much the same as yours with that same prop. This is with a full fuel and tourney load by myself at 5800 rpms. I switched to a Fury 3 blade 23 and the rpms have been able to get closer to 6000-6100 but top speed hasn't improved, if anything it has lost 1-2 mph. I'm uncertain whether holeshot has improved much or not. I may have to take it back and experiment some more. Mine doesn't blow out or overrev on takeoff and I have one medium plug in the prop. I am uncertain whether to take that out or add another plug.

.... been think ALIT about repowering my 202, she's 20yrs old now and the heartbeat of her (225 efi) is still running strong, still loves gas, still loves oil and runs good, BUT i know the inevitable is going to happen sometime. Honestly can't decide since i will have to finance the motor, and kinda know what my payments will be... new motor or NEWER boat, payments will be bout the same but that's what I'm scratching my head on!!!
