    Something odd

When I bought my boat last year, older bass boat with a 1989 175hp merc, wasn't til a handful of outings I notice when pumping the bulb i a little gas spewed out under the cowling. Motor runs great, don't really have any issues but saw the very first fuel line coming in was coupled together or something. I got fuel line hose coming but my brother said if its running fine don't mess with it. It shouldn't be like this though.

Yes that is where the gas came from when I gave the bulb one too many squeezes.

Would this cause too much oil to be used during operation? What type of performance issues may this cause? Loss of speed?

Is that electrical tape on the fuel line covering up a coupler that's leaking?

I'm going to say it right now. Fix that. Before you have a fire.

Older outboard - why not replace all the fuel line and primer bulb? It doesn't cost that much and could save you from being broken down...

^^^^^ X9!!! Replace it all if it's over 3 or 4 years old. Ethanol kills fuel lines

Yea, you know the gray fuel line with the primer bulb on there now looks like its at least ten years old. I will change that out. Wondered what symptoms could result with old fuel lines, what would you notice in performance riding the boat?
