Those of you who agree with this, how do you like Socialism?
If there was and Executive Order saying you had to drink your own piss to stop the spread, would you?

If your by yourself and following Social Distancing rules this shouldn't be a problem.

That link looks to be referring to business, such as staffed parks and private launches with employees.

I'm guessing you think all the bump stock owners destroyed them too, right? And NY AR owners got rid of their rifles?

But for the topic at hand...what about if you built a ramp in your backyard? What would stop you from using it?

[QUOTE=BoatBuggy;11012964]Mostly because if one were to get into trouble on the water it would require a bunch of first responders who probably have more important things to do right now. I can see this being the case in NY but maybe not so much in other

Exactly. That's the whole point of shelter in place. We can debate the effects of it later.

If you ask me he's got it all covered... No public or private mentioned... Yeah, he's covered them all... Now if you're lucky enough to have your boat on a lift... You're golden... Dan

    • Parks and other open public spaces, except playgrounds and other areas of congregation where social distancing cannot be abided
    • However, golf courses are not essential
    • However, use of boat launches and marinas for recreational vessels is not considered essential

Nothing, but you may face the long arm of the law since he didn't mention Public or Private... He pretty much made a blanket statement that covers all launches... Sneaky lawyers... Dan

It's embarrassing grown men get upset about this. We deal with it as a society for a few months and move forward. Sacrifice is apart of life and if you can't live without fishing for a while you aren't a stable human being. I have a million other things I could suggest you take up for a couple months.

If an activity raises the chances of spread by 1% then the idea is that we should be okay cancelling that activity for a while. Social distancing is in place when you can't stay home otherwise STAY HOME.

I'm as mad as anyone about not being able to fish but I'm not going to get all huffy and sensitive over my hobby having to be put on the back burner for a little. We're all adults.

This just seems way over the top to me. We are now banning activities that are literally the epitome of social distancing? They could have said you have to launch solo and park 6 feet apart.
Believe me I’m right there with you- Fishing is my passion in life. I just think we need to all take things in stride a little while this is going on. Maybe it’s just me being introspective, but I’m just trying to have a little grace in my heart for humanity as we try to figure this thing out.

They're saying go outside. Go to the park, go for a walk, exercise. I saw so many people passing each other while walking yesterday but they're worried about people on the water in a boat.

Social distancing is social distancing. As long as you follow the request then why is fishing a issue?

The underlying reason for closing the launches is to reduce the movement of persons and ultimately the virus. Yes without question, being out on a boat alone miles away from the closest persons is extremely safe as it pertains to this disease. The concern however is the migration of "boaters" from metropolitan areas to the rural areas and potentially bringing the virus with them. When they stop for gas, food etc they unfortunately serve as vectors and may contaminate small communities that may not have any infected persons. Many of these small rural communities don't even have clinics let alone hospitals. And in the absence of having the resources to confirm that you're going directly to the launch without any stops etc, the only disappointing alternative is to try to restrict fishing.

Cabin fever for us northeners is making us all crazy and nothing would make me happier than to head to the St Lawrence but I will stay home for all of my old friends that live near the water.

If we keep forcing people inside and telling them they can't go out, there's going to be problems. People will have a hard time handling that. I took my wife and son out two days ago, after three long days in a firehouse dealing with coronavirus bs. Trust me, I needed that time. The ignorant thing of this is that people are lined up on the banks right now fishing perch and bullhead. Far more risk of spread there than me on my boat.

if you say you are fishing for food, that's not recreational use.

What some of out of staters don’t understand is that outdoor recreation is still allowed. You can drive to the park and walk but now you can’t drive to the boat launch and go launch a boat. It doesn’t make sense. That is the issue. A jogger is essential but a fisherman is not. There now you can post educated posts since now you know.
