I think Maine should be that way too but we're by the calendar year.

When we go to Canada and buy a 3-day license, my dad always goes with the 72 hour rule. We buy them when we arrive, fish that evening, fish the next two days, and fish in the morning before leaving. I don't think the fish police would look at it the same way but he's never been checked in over 50 years so he's probably OK.

In NC, 12 mos from date of purchase. If you're a VET, depending on your rating you can get a lifetime for next to nothing.

March 1 to end of February in MN. It really should be 12 months from the date of purchase in my opinion. One thing I like is we have the option to buy a joint license if you're married. Saves like half off the second one, so we save a little money that way.

Wow, a lot of lifetime license holders here. I got my lifetime as a graduation present in 1985. They were just going to increase the price from $400 to $500+ for a lifetime combo hunting and fishing. Mom offered one to my brother (graduated in 86) but he said he was moving to Chicago and didn't need it. Well, guess who now gets to pay $95 a year for a non-resident upland game license every year? The Lifetime in Nebraska is good no matter where you live.

We also have a lifetime Habitat Stamp (because the state can't get by on license fees) so I bought one of those a long time ago as well. For me now it's a convenience. If I'm in town, I go. I don't have to worry if I'm current.

I remember my Arkansas was from date of purchase.
