Does Phoenix Plug Pitot pickup?

I have a 2018 721 w Opti 250, no speedometer in the dash. Cleaning the boat yesterday, notice wood in the Lower Unit Pitot pickup hole. Other boats I've had, with a speedometer in the dash, I would clean the wood out with a small drill bit and speedometer would work again. Without a speedometer, does Phoenix plug that hole with wood. Or is that pickup hole used for something other than speedometer?

The pitot tube comes capped off from the engine manufacturer and is not hooked up if you don’t have a speedo. The wood in your lower unit is from a log or stump you bumped into.
