Wow, I never thought they would close. New Mexico went dark a few weeks ago, but I figured Texas would keep them open.

Are your COE lake ramps, Public, and private ramps included in this or is it just your State Park area ramps. Bet there is still a lot of places to get on the water.

We have a TON of lakes, really good lakes that have no State Parks on them......still plenty of great fishing to be had. Too many public and private ramps to let this affect your fishing.

Most of our COE ramps are open as are many, many public ramps.
My gut feeling is it was done to minimize crowds during the upcoming Easter holiday. Can't close parks and leave ramps open which si why the press release mentions state parks.

That being said as a citizen I am keeping score locally, state and federal over who is doing what in these times and if I disagree with their actions I will remember that when it comes time to cast ballots.

740,000 visitors in the month of March.

That’s a big number. I wonder if that is normal for March.

USDA just closed the Stanislaus National Forest here in CA. My guess is to keep people out for the opening trout season in a few weeks.

Closing state ramps is just going to pack more people on the open ramps, I am surprised the state ramps closed before the army corp of engineer ramps since those are the Fed ramps, I could see where the only ramps open are the private ones when this is all done.

    Yes it is.

I’d bet the majority of those 740k were in the Hill Country area Parks and Big Bend.
Still like to know if that’s a normal #.

Can’t remember the last time I launched the boat at a state park. Won’t affect many bass/crappie anglers.

What is more Social Distancing than being outdoors, especially fishing. One, maybe 2 people in a boat and if more, its usually family!

That was my thinking as well. They’ve closed the ramps to a few lakes around me already, now all I see on local fb fishing groups is what ramps are still open so they can all just go to those ones.

It might be wise to stop posting what ramps are open on FB and social media for now.
