    Crestliner PT20 Props

    Looking for input on prop selection for my new Crestliner PT20. Switched from an older glass boat (that I purchased setup) to the newer aluminum boat (that I am needing to setup). I have a Mercury 200 V6 without a jack plate (mounted at the highest setting) and a 19p Tempest prop and have tested a 21p and 23p Tempest but want to see what other people have, have tried, or recommend. I have heard a lot of good about the Fury and want to see if anyone had any pros or cons from either before I spend more time testing. Any input is greatly appreciated.

    Based on the below info I am wondering if I will get more speed from a Fury of equal pitch and or if I could / should try out a 24p or 25p prop.

    RPM Range = 5000-5800

    Test with Light Load
    19p = ~52.5 mph @ 6200 rpm @ 75% trim
    21p = ~55.0 mph @ 5800 rpm @ 90% trim
    23p = ~55.5 mph @ 5400 rpm @ 100% trim

    Test with Heavy Load
    23p = ~57.0 mph @ 5500 rpm @ 100% trim

    I run a 19 Tempest Plus 200 Merc 4 Stroke can turn 6000 rpm jackplate set 3 runs 58/59
    I have run a 21P Tempest and ran 61 but was only turning 5700

    I maybe able to tweak JP and do a little better but don't think it will buy me much.

    Bigger pitch you will go up in speed but down in RPM and that not where you want to run your engine.

    Not looking at speed, bought it for the platform.

    On my 2017 PT20 with V6 200 I tried many props but the 19P Tempast was the best.

    I ran JP same height, turned 5800 ran about 55.

    Thanks for the info. The 19 doesn’t seem to be enough prop (if I’m understanding) and pushes me 400 rpm over the recommended range. I also think the jack plate makes a difference however Crestliner voids the hull warranty if one is installed (recent change). The 23 is in the middle of the range and still gives me wiggle room either way but I am curious if switching to a Fury will give me more mph without changing the rpm too much. From what I have read the Fury is better for lighter boats...

    How did your boat run faster at higher RPM with a heavy load? Counter intuitive. Was it a much cooler day with a perfect ripple? Wonder if it indicates you need to drop the motor a hole?

    I’m guessing that it’s mounted too high and the weight brought it down just enough. With the 19 and 21 I wasn’t getting trimmed all the way so I raised it up. With the 23 can trim all the way and I’ll probably have to drop it down before it’s all said and done. I read if you run a Fury it needs to be lower then if you run a Tempest so probably one hole if I go with a 23 Tempest and 2 holes if I go with a 23 Fury. Hoping to find a 23 Fury to demo and adjust as needed.

    Hope that's all the trouble is, if you get the engine height right it should be a 60+mph boat lightly loaded.

    I am running a crestliner pt20 with a merc 200 pro xs v8 and a nd a tempest plus 19 pitch 2nd mounting hole down with a 6 inch hydraulic jack plate, with 2 people a cooler and light tackle I can only get about 51 mph tops fully trimmed out turning around 5600 rpm... any one with a similar set up? Don't mean to hijack the thread
