Does this look legit to you?

    https://vm.tiktok.com/ttF8ok/

I absolutely believe larger bass will get smaller bass stuck in their throat, but’s what’s the chances they would hit a lure with that thing stuck in there?? Not to mention I don’t know how you wouldn’t notice the other bass in there until after you landed it, took the hook out of it and started the video.

Fish might have been struggling on top of water and they just went and grabbed it. Seen videos of this happening before. Go to 30 second mark.

Sorry, the video is tagged as “caught a cannibal bass”.

I know this happens in nature, but you normally don’t see it until they wash up dead somewhere. My question was more if that larger bass actually hit that kids lure with his throat stuffed.

Maybe the hook stuck in the side of it mouth is an indicator.

    I'm with you.

Let's not be silly, that smaller bass was put there for the purpose of making the video.

my guess is that they found it and put the bait in its mouth...

I was fishing about 2 years ago when I saw a lot of commotion on the water. It was a 3 1/2 lb smallmouth with a 2lb largemouth stuck in its throat. I pulled over to it and was able to save both of them! Was not easy to get them apart. I felt good about “saving” them.

Both fish may have been going for the bait at the same time and they wound up like that. The fact that the smaller fish was still alive and in good shape to me would mean that they had not been like that for long.

I didnt see the lure in it's mouth the first time... But I have heard of this happening when 2 fish going for the same lure at the same time... It could happen.

PS: Just read the post above...

I have never seen this personally, but on herring lakes you often have fish trying to take the bait from a hooked fish. They seem to hit at the bait even when a hooked fish is fighting to get away. I could see this happening in that case.

Back in 1998 while fishing on Lake Hannabanilla in Cuba we came across a 10 lb LM Bass with about an 8 lb. Tilapia stuck down it's throat. Both had just died prior to our finding them along the shore. there was none of that breaking down on the skins surface. We could not dislodge the Tilapia from the Bass's mouth. just some of the things which you see out there in Nature.

i was reeling in a 10-12" white bass one day and a 6-ish LM ate it about halfway up, ended up catching both, hook hever got the LM, caught him only because the white was wedged in its mouth.
