Sounds like more money is coming for businesses and employees past what is already in the works. Just picked up a small part earlier but it seems they are gonna allow tax deductions on dining and entertainment again.

ive been tired of hearing all of it. the media and social media thrives on the negativity. also everyone on social media has gotten their PHD in the last 2 weeks. this wont be my new normal!!!!

This is not the new normal but we will also not return to the way it used to be either. The old standard of "drag yourself into work if you and/or your kids are sick to prove your work ethic" needs to change. Staffing and supplying hospitals using the "just in time" model like we do with car manufacturers is crazy and needs to change. The haphazard cleaning done at ATM's, buses, airlines, subways, etc... needs to change. These changes won't destroy our economy, we've learned we can be productive from home and our healthcare system will be better prepared next time (and there will be a next time). Hopefully this will also remind us that we are all in this together!

A lot of things will probably change permanently. I think the work from home idea will gain traction as employers see that employees cane be productive at home and they can shrink their office footprint. Some retail will probably be gone because many have discovered how easy and cost effective it is to order things online for delivery. Finally I think people, for a time, will likely cut back some spending because this put a scare into many and many have been impacted. In the bigger picture I have no idea where we end up with inflation and interest rates longer term. Some of these changes will likely have impacts for many years but at some point people will start venturing out and returning to school and fishing etc.

What will determine our "new future" is yet to be determined. I think it's too early to tell yet. There are a lot issues to consider.

I started a thread today that i thought was positive and i said i thought Dr. Fauci should stand down from his negativity on the timeline for a vaccine. I was told by some how wrong i was and how right he is on that. Dr. Fauci has stated there has not been enough testing on the drug being used to fight the virus. So i guess what i'm hearing is how right he is on the vaccine but now how wrong he is on the treatment. I find all of this very interesting.

What I was referring to is anyone who shows symptoms of having covid (fever, sore throat, etc) and sees a doctor. Even if they are not positive and they would want to try it, why not give it to them unless they have underlying issues. I would talk to my GP and definitely ask him if I had symptoms. If it were over the counter I would definitely have some at home in case I get symptoms.

That's part of what the clinical trials do is see how it affects different people taking it to insure it doesn't potentially cause a fatal reaction/ condition at worse or harmful irreversible organ damage among other things.

The reason they don't give it "to anyone who wants to try it" is two fold. First is that there are a lot of people who rely on this drug to stay alive and lead a relatively normal life. Supplies are not unlimited. Second is that the clinical evidence thus far indicates a modest improvement in symptoms of patients who are not severely impacted by COVID-19. What is known is that there is a portion of the population (heart issues) that taking hydroxichloroquine can result in heart failure. It is not a cure, but possibly reduces symptoms in a portion of the impacted population. If it was available at your corner drugstore without a prescription, and with what you know today, would you go buy it and start taking it immediately? I would not.

There really should be some normals that are new. Like moving our manufacturing of good, particularly goods that are critical, back to the U.S. and ensuring we put American interests first. Many say this can't happen but if any member here had said we'd be where we're at in April back in November, we'd have all said that was impossible. I'm sick of the "new normal" statements too but I think there are some normals that need to become new and this issue may have been the warning shot over the bow. I hope we find a way not to let this learning opportunity go to waste.

We don’t have a “new normal” after every flu season. We didn’t have any drastic life changes after H1N1, which killed over 12,000, and hospitalized almost 400,00. The majority of people will resume normal operations, whether or not it’s the smart thing to do, as soon they’re told the coast is clear.
The single biggest impact for the most of us will be the economic impact. Hopefully, the economy starts back up sooner than later.
This too shall pass. And people have short memories, so no drastic changes to life as we knew it. Prayers to all those affected by this.

had a customer tell me a customer of his, who is a nurse, told him all deaths are being counted as covid related now whether that was the cause or not here

This will probably fall on deaf ears, but it's the "new normal...temporarily". We have to make everyone understand the severity of this situation. Make it feel & seem like it's the new norm so people DO stay home, or at least make their trips to essential businesses as rare as possible. It's the only way we're going to knock this thing out people.

The sooner we all stick to this "new temporary norm" and flatten the curve on COVID, the sooner we can all actually get back to our normal lives.

The biggest long term outcome of the pandemic will be increased socialism, people are gonna want those checks to keep coming.
