Why is it a crime to shoot a Tiger you own?

Yes, Joe Dirt, I mean Exotic thread. Joe was convicted of quite a few crimes, but the one that stands out to me is the 5 counts for shooting tigers in the head to euthanize them. He may have shot more, but they dug up 5 skulls for evidence.

Endangered species? In the wild. We have more tigers in captivity in the US than exist in the wild. 10000 and 4000 respectively. I guess the AUSA was piling on as many charges as she could get, she definitely had the vibe she'd be on Team Carole no matter what. I just don't see how it can be a crime to euthanize an animal you legally own. Bullet to the head is very humane in my book.

That is a weird one for me too. Especially if you can’t prove/confirm any other details. Dangerous, bad health, etc

Probably legal at one time but laws changed and he didn't keep complete medical records on the cats.

It’s illegal here to shoot a dog to put it down because its considered inhuman. Probably same thing applies to exotic animals in OK

We have some exotics here in Texas that are endangered in there home land but hunted on high fence ranches. Our state population is higher than in the wild.

It is illegal to kill, euthanize and in most cases harbor an endangered species. If you do happen to legally own one, the proper authority has to euthanize it when needed. Not my rules.

Depends on which state you live in. There are 8 states where it’s legal.

Joe “Exotic” was convicted 1) because the Feds don’t lose & 2) Because his mouth is running non stop. If you’re going to make a living dealing with exotic species you should know the laws.

He's in jail for a "murder for hire" plot on that creep that allegedly had her husband put in the ground.
