    Weight less soft jerkbaits

Weightless......Easiest way I've found to nose thread line for a treble hook.

This is a small Super Fluke Jr, 4".......I use the post of a small 1/8" rivet. The top of rivet post has a slight indent. The line in the photo is 100lb braid with a #6 treble. Easy to go as big or small with line or treble as needed for the bait.

Looks pretty neat, I like the idea and ingenuity!

I'm curious what kind of situations you throw this rig in? Typically when I throw a soft plastic jerkbait it's around a pretty snag rich environment, but I could possibly imagine myself throwing something like that in deep clear smallie lakes up by me.

I use a big sewing needle for this technique. Can thread braid up to 60lbs if a guy wanted. Much quicker as you don’t have to tie it, thread it through leaving 6-8”, shove needle through bait, makes a nice small precise hole for line. Works awesome for smallies and large mouth over the tops of weed beds and rocky shore lines.

Mostly spring time for smallies and largemouth, gavel and rock, early summer over the tops of weeds. Once summer gets going I'll Texas Rig it with an EWG for around grass and wood.

I've done this with the rivet itself after Ott DeFoe won in LaCrosse doing it. Pull the post out, put the rivet in the nose, use the post to ream out the plastic, thread the line through! I think the big advantage of using the rivet instead of just line is that the rivet protects the plastic from getting cut through by the line. It also adds some weight, though I think this way you'd have a lot more natural action. Good idea!

I've done pretty much the same thing for years. I'd take & run a wide gap through & cut mono off & tie treble on.
