Anyone change out the Bungee Rod Strap?

I am looking at rod buckle rod straps. They will not fit in the gunwale area flat, because there isn't enough height. I was thinking of using the Concealed conversion kit for the Rod Buckle, which puts the unit on the back side. Just not sure if it will work.

    Has anyone done this?

I put rod buckles in my 96 zx200. You have to use the concealment kit to make it work

McMaster-Carr has some rubber straps and delrin type hooks that are great. They last forever and mount to anchor the bungess connects too. Its available in many colors. Super cheap too. I bet if you do a search here there are links to those part numbers. I did it on 2-3 of my previous Skeeters and never had to change them out again. A couple are still going strong 10 years later.

I replaced the bungee straps with the newer Skeeter straps, took about 6 hours to install but it was well worth it. And they look a lot better than any of the off brand after market straps or buckles you can buy.
