    Triton SF 21-fish ski

Hello folks, just joined the Triton family, left the Champion family. I’m looking for some input on set up. I just added a 6” JP. Boat has a 225 Opti and with the plate it’s pinning the Tempest 21 to the limiter at 61mph with no rooster tail at full trim. I obviously need more prop but I’m looking for a starting point on the JP. No rooster tail tells me it needs to come up. Where do these Triton hulls like their Ptp? My champ liked 3.75 but the Triton seems like it might want it higher? Thx for any input.

Definitely sounds like you need more prop. If you search (ctrl-f) sf21 on the below list, you can find some info. I know on my Allure, it likes the motor lower. I'm at 4.75" P2P right now but I think 4.375 is probably optimal for speed. Not sure exactly how much different your hull is, though I think it's a faster hull than mine. What is your RPM limit on that motor?

Thx very much. Max rpm for the Opti is 5750. But the limiter was hitting about 6000ish depends how accurate the tach is.

I'm by no means an expert, but it looks like your at about 11% slip which is quite good for most fish and ski boats in my mind. I would try stepping up to a 23 or 24 pitch prop and would probably leave the motor height where it is for now. What is the P2P right now?

I set it at 4.5” to start to be sure I had good water pressure.

That's probably not too bad, you could try raising it a little bit. A lot of guys are running 4.375-4.5 from my research into my Allure. Mine at 4.75" is about 14% slip and getting 60 @ 5600 RPM with the 250 Pro XS. I think your hull is a faster hull than mine though.

Sorry I can't help more fully, but I figured my Allure can't be all that far off of a baseline.

I was looking at a sf21 recently. They look like awesome boats.
