If I get a Helix 7 for the bow and keep my current Maxxum 101 ; when using the MKR-US28 cable on the Helix to the minn kota - what features if any will work ? I see the compatibility is there, but what will work ?

No it is not compatible several ways.

All third generation Helix units and second generation SOLIX units have HW CHIRP 140-240 kHz as standard/Default for 2D sonar.

A US2 transducer does 83/200 kHz for 2D sonar ONLY and doesn't do any SI or DI.

If you want to loose SI and DI and downgrade the 2D sonar, you can connect the US2 to the unit and change the Connected Transducer setting to Generic 83/200 kHz.

Next thing is if you want to have all the functions the unit has on the trolling motor, get the proper trolling motor puck version for the unit. You can exhange the transom transducer for it------XTM 9 HW MSI 150 T

Wayne, you are the man ! Thank you for the precise and accurate information. I guess if I change the transducer settings to 83/200 that will at least keep me fishing. Until I upgrade to an Ultrex !
