    Upgrading to a Ghost

Guys I have a 2000 TR21 with a motorguide trolling motor. If I upgrade to a ghost will I need to replace the trolling motor breaker? I know the ultrex would require that but I have not seen anything about that for the ghost. Thanks!

What do you mean you have to replace the breaker for an ultrex? Are you going from a 24 volt system to a 36?

Don't know if it'll help, running mine on max in a 24V setup I saw a steady 40-41 amp draw over a few minutes of running.

50 amp breaker for the Ghost. Not sure if they recommend disconnecting from batteries while charging, like MK and Garmin do, but it is always a good practice to unplug or use a disconnect switch.

50 amp breaker is good, and yes, Lowrance recommends disconnecting the breaker when charging. Even though protection is built in, stuff happens so don't take the chance.

My MG 109 requires a 60. It had a 50 in it once and kept kicking it. Fixed that. My next TM will be a Ghost unless someone pulls something pretty dang special out of their hat between now and then.

Ah, ok. 50 amp to a 60 amp. My boat had a 50 amp breaker in the back and I kept popping it with my fortrex. I replaced it with a 60 amp before I upgraded to an ultrex. Makes sense. Those batteries push a lot of amps.

If you are changing to a higher rated circuit breaker, make sure the wire is adequate for that current load. 6” Amps will require #6 wire.
