    Where. To go

So for the first time all tournaments for April are canceled. Now I find my self with an abundance of time to fish without any specific tournament destination to go.

So, given that i love to sight fish during the spawn, where do you recommend that i go for fun. Th is opportunity probably won't ever happen again.

And please hold all the " bed fishing is wrong, etc " replys for another thread.

You know you are killing the bass population!!!!! Sorry just had to say that. LOL Smith Mountain lake would be my first pick. Could catch LM and SM. Water is usually clear and there is some big fish in that pond.

I still say Smith Mountain would be the best bet.

I love Smith Mountain and went last Sunday. It was the worst day I have ever had there. Fished deep, shallow and in between with different baits. It was like July 4th with boat traffic. Saw a few bucks shallow that would follow a swimbait but nothing on beds that I could see. Water was 60 degrees. I think by next week there should be bedding fish and by the third week in April there should definitely be spawners. It is a great sight fishing lake that is full of fish. Years ago I went around the first of May and every single lap in the water would have a bed at the very tip, often 8 ft deep or more. I hope to be going back in the next few weeks.

I might try to head to Kerr in the morning. Going to put in at county line if it is still open.
